Description. L. gibbosus is a very deep-bodied, laterally compressed, almost disc-like fish, usually 178-229 mm in total length. However, it can reach sizes up to 40 cm in total length, with weights normally less than 450 grams. The fish present an oval silhouette and are very compressed laterally.
